Team Fortress 2 Turn Off Chat
First create an autoconfig file by using the following command ingame.
host_writeconfig autoexec
This will create an autoexec.cfg in the following directory that you can open with notepad.
Team Fortress 2\tf\cfg
Open the cfg file with notepad and add the following line at the end
hud_saytext_time 0
The number refers to the amount of seconds the chat will stay visible before disappearing.
This means that the chat will never appear unless the user presses the "y" or "u" key to type a message themselves.
To remedy this, simply unbind the "y" and "u" keys in the ingame settings to disable chat completely.
